The big 4 attractants
1. Moisture. Roaches need water more than food. A dripping faucet, leaking dishwasher, condensation around AC vents, or a pet water bowl is a roach magnet. 2. Food residue. Tiny amounts. Crumbs under the toaster, grease behind the stove, pet food left out, organic recycling not rinsed. 3. Warmth. Behind / under refrigerators, behind dishwashers, in water-heater closets, inside microwaves (yes, really). 4. Harborage. Cracks roaches can hide in: cardboard boxes stacked in a basement, paper grocery bags in pantries, clutter under sinks.
Cleanliness ≠ no roaches
Even spotless homes get German roaches because the bugs hitchhike in:
- Grocery boxes
- Used appliances (especially second-hand microwaves and toaster ovens)
- Cardboard boxes from packages
- Visitors' bags or coats
A pristine home that has ONE introduction event can sustain a roach population indefinitely if there's any moisture access.
What to fix in 30 minutes

What needs a professional
