Our aim
We want anyone with a pest problem to be able to use this site and reach us, regardless of how they browse. We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our standard.
What we've done
- Every page renders its content in HTML without requiring JavaScript to read it.
- Semantic landmarks throughout —
main,nav,article,address— and a single logical heading order per page. - Text contrast raised across the site to meet AA against our light background.
- Visible keyboard focus outlines on every interactive element.
- Decorative images — the spider-web background, orbiting spiders, repeated logos — carry empty alt text so screen readers skip them entirely.
- Data presented in real HTML tables with proper header cells and captions, not images or CSS grids.
- All animation respects the operating system's “reduce motion” setting. If you have it on, the spinning web, orbiting spiders, entrance animations and pulsing call button all stop.
- Phone numbers are tappable links, and the mobile call bar is in the initial HTML rather than appearing after a delay.
- Form fields have real labels, and errors are described in text rather than by colour alone.
What still needs work
Being straight about this is more useful than claiming full compliance:
- Some third-party components we embed — the sign-in widget and the card payment form — are not fully under our control, though both vendors publish their own accessibility conformance reports.
- We have not yet completed a full manual screen-reader audit of the customer scheduling flow.
- The site has very few photographs today. As we add real job photos, each one needs meaningful alt text written for it.
